We spent the afternoon at Cockle Bay with the family, just hanging out. It was great to let the kids play, pickup crabs, get sunburnt and just have a great time.

Squirtle!… A great Day at the Hood!
Meet ‘Squirtle’ the new addition to the Stone clan. 30yo, retro ski boat with a beasty motor. We just couldn’t miss the water fun this summer! Christened her on Lake Hood today with a few good friends and had a blast. It goes like snot! All the boys got out on the ski biscuit and I wasn’t able to make Jack fall off!
The clan. Arthur, Isaac, Thomas, Esther, Karolyn, Dean, Charli and Billy!
Jack and the boys trying to figure out how to get the Ski Biscuit going…
Livvy’s good mate Charli..
And this is what happened to Jack when he slipped climbing on! Good effort eh!
He got home, read one page and fell asleep. Mush have been a good day!
Fun Family Shots!
Here’s a few cool photos we took today. Just love them all, cool kids and a great time!
Auckland Family Trip
The Stone crew popped up to Auckland this week to see the Auckland family. I’ll post a few updates, but here’s a few pics from a nice day out on the water today. We went to Waiheke, Matiatia, Rangitoto and Mototapu. They all loved it. Livvy was a little nervous of the speed but got the hang of it in the end.
Olivia’s “Now you see me…” magic…
The Karangahake footbridge…
Jack at Waihi mine. What a huge hole in the ground!
Say no more…
The kids love their gran…
If you ever wondered what a pack of prize nut bars looks like, here’s a good example:
Livvy having a bit of fun at Grant and Liz’s place.
Some quiet time with Grandad.
We took the kids for a trip to the Auckland Museum. They had a ball, but Livvy was pretty tired. Still was quite an impressive place to visit.
And who’s the big kid at Mac D’s playground?
It was a pretty rough flight home but we got there in the end!
Family Fishing Day at the Rakaia Gorge.
We all went to the Rakaia Gorge today to have a fish. I really wanted to get Jackson started with the spinning rod and also try him on the fly rod.
It turns out he was an excellent caster, and hit the far bank a few times! I also have him a go with the fly rod and he seemed to get the idea.
A few small rises, but they were mostly tiddlers. It was really just a great practice day for Jack to learn his casting.
I think I’ll take him up a real back country river next and see if we can get him into a trout! He’ll love that!
My cool kid…
Check out this wee baby brown trout that gobbled my nymph! it was tiny! Still Jack was happy to see a fish.
Even Livvy got into it with her little rod!
Trip to Auckland
We took a wee holiday to Auckland to see the family and have a break. Here’s a few random photos…
Summer dinners…
BBQ, Ginger Beer, Fishing shows on tv, wife, kids… what more do you need!
The Stone family kids!
We stayed at Dads place in Auck. Here’s a photo of the kids just hanging out. Great to see them all together!
Mothers Day–Up in the hills with family!
After a nice bacon and egg breakfast for Mothers Day and a treasure hunt from Jackson, we took to the hills for the afternoon. The lot of us went to Arthurs Pass for lunch and then played at the upper Waimak and Lake Pearson on the way back.
We also went for a wee hike up Castle Hill and played around the boulders. The kids loved it.
We had a lovely day – it’s great having family time!
