Yup! I got the itch again… Those who knew me in the earlier days will understand I’ve had and done a few classics… This is the new project. No great rush, just going to chip away at it. Not hotrodding it, just going to turn into a patina’d daly driver. Plan to have this for a few years…
It’s a 1954 Ford F100 pickup. From California originally, left hand drive. Motor is a Y-Block 272 V8, has 4 barrel holly carb. Plenty of bits missing but I’ll sort that.
Another successful annual Bro Tip! We headed to Great Barrier again on a fairly calm weather pattern. Nothing much over 10 knots the whole time and a bit of glass.
We tried a bit of everything, and caught Kahawai, Snapper, Red Snapper, Cod, Trevally, Blue Maumau, Black Maumau, Terakihi, Kingfish, Shark, Granddaddy Hapuka etc. Lets just say the freezer is stocked for a while!
We even had a 2.5m Bronze Whaler Shark munch fish heads off the boat (Simon hung them on a rope). That shark hung around a while, pretty awesome sight!
I Hooked a 5 foot Hammerhead shark on a live bait and it stripped out about 300m of line in a minute. That fought hard! Even used the gimble on that one!
We spent time at Channel Island on Glass and hooked into 3x massive kingfish on jigs. They fight hard! I got broken off on 20, 100 and 130lb line! Next time wire trace!
During a Marlin session, we towed a few lures off the back of Barrier and a Marlin rose just in front of the boat. It doubled back and chased the lure but didn’t commit. Next time
Great trip. Simon is a great brother and friend, and I really love this annual trip.
Time for another adventure! I got Jackson up at 4:30am and drove up to the Glenariffe Stream, up in the Canterbury backcountry. We had a great day, he’s casting really well and he also hooked a nice brown trout. He’s a great lad, no complaints, and is a natural caster. Love him…
We had Vishal and Gopika down for a holiday, so took them for a nice walk to the Devils Punchbowl in Arthurs Pass. Decent walk, good fun, great company!
I’ve starting on a wee project. This is a fish catcher to catch live bait for the boat. A bit left to do on it but you should get the idea. Basically a water cooler bottle with top inverted.

Livvy and me went to Auckland to see the family and do the office Chrissy party. We both had a great time and she was a great girl. I think she felt all grown up!
