Fishing with Gav – 2017
Some pics from my trip with the lads to the Bay of Islands in Gav’s dad’s boat. Awesome trip as always, weather a bit average but good company. Look forward to next one.
The New Family Boat!
Summer here we come!! Dad’s new project… A few things to do, but a solid base for fishing and skiing! All invited for a tow around the lake (when it stops blooming raining!)
How to make a Berley Bomb!
Easy! Grab a few pipe fittings and hardware from the hardware store, drill some holes and screw it together! Job done and works well!
The Ski Boat
Pretty stoked that I took the boat out of the shed after winter/spring and it started first turn of the key! Awesome motor on it! Looking forward to some wakeboarding…
Quick trip to fish at The Coromandel
I took the family out for a cruisy day on the water. It was such a great day it was glassy conditions most of the time! We went around Waiheke, then ducked across the Happy Jack’s Island in the Coromandel. We saw workups, Dolphins, Penguins and got enough snapper for a good feed for dinner!
Jack can now bait his hooks himself and Livvy finally got her sealegs and now loves it!
A day at the Hood!
We took a few families to Lake Hood today for a play on the boat and to let the little kids swim in the lake. Had a blast and we even had a 30 min thunder and lightening storm directly overhead! Sarah got up on the wakeboard and the kids all did the biscuit. Next trip we’ll head to McKenzie country!
Squirtle!… A great Day at the Hood!
Meet ‘Squirtle’ the new addition to the Stone clan. 30yo, retro ski boat with a beasty motor. We just couldn’t miss the water fun this summer! Christened her on Lake Hood today with a few good friends and had a blast. It goes like snot! All the boys got out on the ski biscuit and I wasn’t able to make Jack fall off!

Always a good time at the Dobbs. Jack below is getting to grips with Timothy’s compound bow. He did pretty good! The boys took him up the tree hut as well for some bug-hunting!

We caught up with Nana and went up the Sky Tower for a bite to eat with a good view. He loved it.

Ben gave me the opportunity to go out fishing at Tairua. When I turned up, it appeared he had taken the bottom off a wheelbarrow and put it on a trailer. We went for a blat around the estuary but due to the iddy biddy 12v trolling motor, we decided not to cross the bar. Was a total hoot! 😉
